Security company vehicle, fleet tracking solution

The Commissionaires (Northern Alberta Division) is a not-for-profit company with a mandate to provide employment opportunities for veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP, and others who wish to contribute to the security and well-being of Canadians. Operating in Northern Alberta since 1939, Commissionaires is Canada’s largest private sector employer of veterans and the only national not-for-profit security company.

In doing so, they provide security services to both federal and provincial government agencies, law enforcement, and commercial clients in Edmonton, Northern Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.


As a diverse security company with assets all across Northern Alberta, Commissionaires was looking for a way to keep track of all of their assets and people, and keeping their employees accountable to the high standards and policies set internally and by their distinguished clientele.

Chief among their list of needs was a cloud-based solution with 24/7 accessibility, custom real-time alerting, and geofencing that would enable insight into driver behaviors and provide historical tracking for future reference.


Commissionaires required a reliable GPS tracking solution that could be configured to meet the unique needs of the organization. Prior to the growth of digital tracking technology, Commissionaires relied on analogue devices.

When it came time to upgrade, they decided to proceed with Titan GPS on the recommendation of another partner company. Since then, Commissionaires has continuously relied on Titan GPS, tracking a large majority of all fleet vehicles in Northern Alberta.


As a long-standing customer, Commissionaires has enjoyed the continuous evolution and improvement of Titan GPS over the years.

Although our original needs are still a priority, the evolution of GPS tracking has assisted in
investigations involving our vehicles, such as locating where the vehicle was at a certain time or date, what speed it was travelling, and what the vehicle’s path was, helping to corroborate or disprove complaints and audit employee patrol routes.
